Time Limits

Time Limits

Different types of cases have different time limits in which they have to be pursued. If the wrong time limit is applied it can have devastating consequences for your claim.

The law in relation to this area is very complex but it is fair to say that time really is of the essence.

The time limits for court cases are set out by statute. The following is a very broad outline of commonly encountered time limits:

If a case is being presented to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority the general time limit for submission of the relevant form is two years from the date of the incident.

There are notable exceptions to these time limits and you should always contact a solicitor as soon as possible to seek advice in relation to this issue.
