Rehabilitation focuses on enabling an injured individual to regain control over their body and life. The aim is to enable the injured person to live as independently as possible and to enable them to make their own decisions about what to do, when to do them and how.   

It is recognised that early rehabilitative intervention can pay the greatest dividends. As a result, a Code of Best Practice on Rehabilitation, Early Intervention and Medical Treatment was introduced in 1999. The Code was developed jointly by insurers and claimant solicitors.

The aim of the Code is to ensure that an injured person achieves the best and quickest outcome possible in terms of medical, social and psychological recovery. It is designed to promote co-operation between all interested parties in relation to assessing and providing for a person’s rehabilitation needs.
