The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) may pay Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit for all the above conditions except for Pleural Plaques. We can advise you further on the DWP’s criteria as not everyone suffering from one of these conditions would necessarily be entitled to benefit for it.
A claim can in certain circumstances be made to the Department for Transport (DfT) for a lump sum payment under the Pneumoconiosis etc (Workers’ Compensation) Act 1979. The sort of compensation you could expect under that government scheme is only a fraction of the compensation you would be awarded through a court action, however.
A claim is also sometimes possible for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit to the DSS. We can assist you. We have a welfare benefits advisor who can give free advice on what state benefits you may be entitled to.
